Dorothy Anne

1928 – 3rd November - Dorothy Anne Edwards was born at Cobnash

She was named Dorothy which means Gift of God because her parents were so pleased to have a healthy baby after her brother Edward's death from Spina Bifida. She was named Anne after her great aunt.

Dorothy went to Kingsland School, the next village to Cobnash and then to Stoke Prior School when they moved to Grove Field.

1944 - Dorothy worked for a short while at Hampton Court Castle, a large stately home about 3 miles below Stoke Prior
It was an intense experience as the wounded were flown in straight from the battlefield, still with their bloody field dressings
Robert Devereux, Viscount Hereford lived at the Hall. It had been requisitioned as a hospital in both World Wars.

1944 - Dorothy then went to work at a Nursery and Preparatory School at a large house called Burcher Court at Titley, near Kington, about 16 miles away. The School had been evacuated from Bexley on Sea, Kent.

After a year there she went back with the School to Bexhill on Sea in Sussex where she stayed for another year.

1947 Dorothy worked at Avonside hospital, Evesham for 2 1/2 years where she did the SEN (State Enrolled Nurse) training. She spent 6 months at Ronkswood Hospital, Worcester and then went to Selly Oak Hospital to do her SRN (State Registered Nurse) training.

1953 – 21st November - Dorothy was married to Keith Moore at St Luke's church, Stoke Prior.
